Wayne and Sharlot began dancing and teaching together in 1991. They received their teaching and adjudication credentials through the “Golden State Dance Teachers Association” (GSDTA) under the expert guidance of Skippy Blair.  Wayne and Sharlot travel across the United States providing educational services/seminars, competing, judging, and performing dance exhibitions.  Wayne and Sharlot were honored to receive, from GSDTA, the “Innovation Award” for leading the direction of West Coast Swing and continually creating innovative new moves.  Holding a seat on the Board of Directors for the US Open Swing Dance Championships, Wayne and Sharlot continue to lead in the continued growth of the swing community.

 

Together, Wayne and Sharlot offer a tremendous blend of talent and knowledge.  They have been described as “Music in Motion.”  One of their admirers put it beautifully when saying, “I can see the Music through Wayne and Sharlot’s dancing.”

 

Sharlot is a master of body isolations, dramatic flair, and “Swing as an Artform”.  Famous for her Soulful Swing Styling,  her style is sophisticated, classy, and sensual.  Sharlot was crowned “Queen of Swing” at the National New Years Eve Dance Championships held in Dallas.  A three time US Open Showcase Champion, she is also a “Feather Award” recipient, and has been inducted into the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame.  In the finale of the John Travolta movie, “Shout”, Sharlot can be seen dancing and performing aerials to the explosions of fireworks in the background.  Sharlot designed her own label of dance slacks that met with much popularity throughout the swing dance community.

 

Wayne has a West Coast Swing style that is subtly awesome, unique, and innovative. He continues to have a major influence on swing dancers across the country.  Wayne is the master of exceptional body lines, which he expertly expresses to the music.  Wayne held National Championship titles in a variety of dances before discovering Swing.  He first studied Swing dancing under the expert direction of Carter Lovisone of Colorado.  Wayne is an inductee into the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame. Wayne also provides digital music editing services for many of the competitors in our swing dance community.
