I would like to take a moment here to publicly thank all those who participated and were a part in this years' convention. This was another successful year for Capital Swing Dancers. Volunteers really pull together this huge convention, and I'm proud to list them a little later in this article. Thanks to everyone who came and participated in order for all of us to have fun!
I know we need to work on the a/c for 2007 and consider that done! :-) We have had problems in the past of it "not working" so at least we know it can handle our crowd. It will be perfect next year, I promise. I do hope everyone enjoyed all the food and incredible competitions that we had this year, as well as dancing til the wee hours of the morning.
Congratulations to all the competitors and also special congrats to Robert Adams and Amber Ripley for being this year's recipients of the Jack & Annie Scholarship Fund! Kudos to Kelly Cassanova for pulling that all together.
Special thanks to Theresa McGarry for holding three FREE beginning WCS workshops for our group. We had a nice attendance for those and plan to continue in the future. We also got some great coverage from the Sacramento Bee and early Sunday morning television with Good Day Sacramento – thanks to the dancers who came out early to show off for everyone!
I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank
the folks that made donations to our Hospitality Suite and helped Keli Rutherdale
to make it such a success. Many great club members and dance friends have
donated food items throughout the weekend. In addition the following local
companies have contributed as well: Coca-Cola Company,
